The Resonance - Desolation

2 - The Resonance - Desolation (Radio cut)

Note: The radio cut edition will not be present on the official release.

With the new single Desolation, the indie rock band The Resonance (Gothenburg) keeps cementing their sound and genre after the previous singles Waiting For Your Time (2016), which has a more dreamy aura, and Aldrig verklig (2022), which flirted heavily with early Kent.

Catchy and dark, Desolation has the typical ingredients of a song by The Resonance, and without being too on the nose, the lyrics deal with relationships that are impossible to live with, and to live without.

The single will be followed by an EP.

About The Resonance

Intense, melodic, simple. Things will never be the same. Dark, yearning, but without signs of apathy. The Resonance is an indie rock band based in Gothenburg.

There are signs of Swedish indie heroes such as Broder Daniel, Kent and Caesars, but The Resonance neither takes a passive, observing role of a cold contemporary society, neither do they bother with narrow references or expensive gear. This leaves a certain vitality and directness.

After minor roundabouts into post-punk (the album Introspection, 2010) and proto-punk, the band has since gradually more or less returned to the indie rock it all started with. The debut album About You (2009, under the band name Tvivelfront) is genre-wise a fairly close match, but more than a decade later, the expression and performance reveals a certain added level of experience.

The band can also be though of in a context of other contemporary Gothenburg bands such as Makthaverskan, Lejonhjärta, Nancy Star, Agent Blå and others.

Jerker Ersare - vocals
Tobias Söderblom - guitar
Calle Leppäjoki - guitar
Elin Strandhagen - bass

Quotes about the previous single "Waiting For Your Time" (our translations):

Drefvet: "[...] exactly the right appeal on a knife's edge between melodically catchy and self-pitying darkness. You know, when you don't know whether to dance or carve your wrists with a suitable blunt object."

Sound of Hisingen: "I ask myself when listening to the song if the indie band The Resonance is Gothenburg's best kept secret? [...] I almost feel ashamed for having missed this band that does exactly the type of music I like."

Rockfarbror: "You don't want to change the song. It's just a bit too good, plain and simple. The unpolished, a bit messy, a bit dark sound is darn brilliant! It gives the song a hell of a feeling and all of a sudden, it's ok that the autumn is here. That's when you want to put this on. Loud. It should be really loud!"
